How To Get Rid of Fever Blisters Naturally Through Diet
|
All
fever blister sufferers know about the "tingling" sensation on your lip
when you know a blister is coming on. I used to wake up to that
feeling once every six to eight weeks, and then suffer with it for two
weeks afterward. It's awful! It's ugly, embarrassing, and
always comes at the worst time. But I've been fever blister-free
for the last two years, and I've now figured out how to get rid of
fever blisters. This article will explore how I did it.
I
used prescription and over-the-counter drugs for a while to try to
control my fever blisters. The painful sores still came every six
to eight weeks, but I was able to reduce the time I spent with them to
about five days. What my doctor never told me, though, is that
there are natural ways to get rid of fever blisters for good (that
don't make pharmacists and doctors richer).
The problem with
using drugs to control fever blisters is that they only reduce the time
you spend when you have an outbreak, but do nothing to prevent the
occurrence of sores. Although it's impossible to get rid of the
herpes virus that causes fever blisters, it is possible to use food and
lifestyle choices to essentially put the virus into remission.
I
haven't used any kind of cold sore medication for about four years, and
for the last two years haven't even suffered from a fever blister
outbreak. Here's how I did it.
When you feel the tingling of a fever blister coming on, do the following:
- Apply ice to the sore for 15 minutes at a time, every four hours.
- Eat
lots of yogurt. The active cultures fight the virus, and yogurt
is a very "neutral" food on the pH scale, which creates a less acidic
environment in your body.
- Keep the sore dry at all other times. Don't lick it or use chapstick or keep it moist at all.
Following these steps, I was able to reduce my cold sore outbreaks to less than three days without using any drugs.
If you want to get rid of fever blisters altogether:
You'll
need to make a few basic (and free) adjustments to your diet and
lifestyle. This includes balancing your body's pH levels and
changing sleeping patterns, both of which are root causes of fever
blisters. Both of these are simple and free to implement, and
have helped me get rid of fever blister outbreaks altogether.
