A Fever Blister Cure - My Story
|
I've
been a fever blister sufferer all my life. It was passed on to me
from my dad, who had suffered all his life with them, too. My
outbreaks seemed particularly bad -- I typically got at least one fever
blister every two months, and usually my fever blisters came in pairs,
two or three at a time. What I would have done then for the fever
blister cure I know now.
For
the past two years, I haven't had one fever blister break the
surface. I don't take any drugs, and control the blister
completely through my diet and lifestyle. Gone are the days I
have to spend $20 every time I have a fever blister outbreak.
Fever
blisters are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1).
There is no cure for herpes, so any product claiming to rid your body
of the virus is lying. However, it is possible to put the virus
into a state of remission for extended periods of time. That's
what I'll explore in this article.
There are two popular forms of fever blister treatment: over-the-counter drugs, and natural home remedies.
Over-The-Counter Drugs
These
are available both with a prescription and without. Drugs aren't
a way to prevent fever blisters, but rather a way to reduce them when
you experience a break out. Popular non-prescription drugs
include Abreva and Viroxyn, both topical creams to be applied at the
first signs of a fever blister. Acyclovir is the most common
prescription drug, and is a pill you take every few hours at the first
sign of a cold sore.
Although creams and pills can be very
helpful when you get a fever blister, they provide no way of avoiding
the embarrassment of them altogether. They simply reduce the
amount of time you have the unsightly blemish by a few days.
Natural Home Remedies
Home
remedies offer not only your only chance at actually preventing fever
blisters, but also at inexpensively reducing the time you spend
suffering with them when they do reach the surface.
Depending on
the food you eat, the amount of sleep you get, and the amount of stress
you're under, you can create an environment in your body that either
promotes or kills viruses like HSV-1. It's as simple as that.
If you already have a fever blister, the following can provide some relief:
- Apply an ice cube to the blister until it is completely melted. Do this every four hours.
- Eat yogurt
-- not only will it balance the pH levels in your body, but the
probiotics in yogurt have proven effective in fighting off HSV-1.
- Avoid nuts, since they contain proteins that promote the growth of HSV-1 lesions.
- Keep the area dry as much as possible. HSV-1 thrives in a moist environment.
- Sleep!
Take a nap, go to bed an hour earlier, or lay down during your lunch
break at work. The biggest cause of fever blister outbreaks in
your body is stress; the best way to fight stress is with sleep.
If
you are looking to prevent fever blisters altogether, you will need to
make some changes to your diet and lifestyle. This includes
balancing the pH level in your body, making dietary changes, and
getting to the root of what is causing your HSV-1 outbreaks. I am
not at all talking about alternative medicine, but rather simple tweaks
to your diet and lifestyle that will prevent fever blisters from ever
being a problem again. To learn more, read on at our partner web
