My take on the hype-filled world of topical creams for cold sores
I hate cold sores -- with a passion. I suffered
with them from age 7 until my 20s. I went into a world of panic
when, every month or two, I would wake up with a small bump forming on
my lip. All cold sore or fever blister sufferers know what that
bump is, and none of them look forward to it. The good news is
that I haven't had a cold sore for a number of years now. The bad
news goes to all the loser products I tried that did very little to
help me with my cold sores. Abreva is on that list of loser
products. I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of my cold
sores. I'm sure you're close to being able to claim the same
thing if you're reading this page. I used prescription drugs,
over-the-counter drugs, topical creams, standing upside on a full moon,
drinking vinegar mixed with sheep's blood -- well, maybe I'm
exaggerating, but you know what I mean. It seems like there are
thousands of "solutions" to cold sores, but none of them seem to work. The
good thing I can say about Abreva is that it helped when I got a cold
sore, lessening the blister from about two weeks of suffering to just
one. But, the problem is, it did nothing to actually STOP my cold
sores. I still got a nasty little bump on my lip every month or
two, and all Abreva could do was make me suffer for a little less time.
I
don't get cold sores anymore -- I've essentially put the HSV-1 virus
into remission. (It's impossible to actually stop it all over.)
That was using the advice I give out on this web site, and what's
given out in the book Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days -- balance the pH
levels in your body and use stress-reducing techniques.
Unfortunately, none of this is because of Abreva.
Abreva gets a big, expensive "FAILURE" stamp from me.
